Going Back to Cali
March 6, 2019
James Wilson had a week-long school break in February so he and I flew to California to visit my sister Brooke and her family. We had a direct flight which was pretty awesome — 11 hours there and 10 coming home. The flight was fine, but the time change (9 hours) and the jet lag were pretty brutal.
Also, I got sick AGAIN. It’s been really exhausting for me with this chest infection that keeps coming back every month, so I went to Urgent Care in California, and it was THE BEST. I walked in, was seen within a few minutes, and left with a Rx for a Z-pack, an inhaler, and cough syrup with codeine. It has been about a week since I finished the antibiotics and it seems like maybe I’m finally better. Fingers crossed….
I mostly spent the week in Target and CVS and it was thrilling, my friends. I bought ALL the goods.
In between Target and CVS runs we had a fabulous time with Brooke, Kevin, Luna, and Kai.
Brooke and I also took a day trip down to San Diego to attend our Uncle Chick’s funeral. Even though the reason for the gathering was sad, I felt very grateful that I was able to attend the ceremony and spend even a little bit of time with my family including my parents and so many of the Barnetts.
The week went by so incredibly fast, and JW and I were sad to leave but we are so, so excited for Brooke and family to come visit us in Amsterdam this summer.
Meanwhile, back at home, James is off snowboarding in Switzerland this week. He’s been working so hard lately and puts in crazy hours so it’s awesome that he’s able to take some time off and hit the slopes and it’s so cool that our friend Matt was able to join him from the States.
