Christmas at the Castle

Dorothy and I took an excursion to the County and Christmas fair at Kasteel de Haar.  The castle and grounds were all decked out for the holidays and there were hundreds of vendors hawking their wares. We shopped, ate, and drank our way through the festival, and had a most spectacular day.

The castle is about 45 minutes outside of the city, so Dorothy got a glimpse of country life along the way, complete with windmills, sheep, cows, and even some pheasants (live ones along the way and some less fortunate ones that were hanging from a chandelier). We were glad we bundled up because it’s winter here in Amsterdam.

Poffertjes (mini Dutch pancakes) are cooked in small batches and served with fresh butter and powdered sugar.

Pheasants hanging from a chandelier, of course. Sorry, dudes.
Look closely. She keeps her dog nice and warm in her bosom.
