And We Were Merry
December 27, 2019
We’ve been making the most of the season, celebrating with friends and making merry. Here are some highlights from a very busy couple of weeks.
We’re very fancy on Christmas Morning
We went to the loveliest brunch on Christmas morning. My friend Heidi organized it. We just had to walk over the bridge and we were there — so easy. It was fabulous — such a good buffet with fresh oysters and alaskan king crab, roast beef, turkey, a fresh pasta station, an egg station, fresh fruit, cheeses, etc. There was also a separate room set up for kids where they could lounge around on giant bean bags, play ping pong, and have space to hang out away from the adults. We sat with friends from South Africa, Spain, Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands. Everyone was so nice and interesting. We ate and chatted for hours — it was super relaxed and really fun.
Heidi did such a good job organizing our lovely brunch
We spent Christmas Eve with my friend Sarah and her family doing a really cool Escape Room experience. Sarah’s from Ireland and it’s tradition for Christmas Eve to involve ghost stories so she organized this for us and it was so much fun. It was so well done — the story was The Secret of Eliza’s Heart which took place in the study chamber of Miss Elizabeth van Leeuwenhart, an explorer who went missing in the early 1900s. The actor who hosted the game was fantastic. We solved it with 10 minutes to spare.
Doing some grocery shopping for our Christmas Eve dinner
James and JW made seafood chowder for our post Escape Room Christmas Eve dinner.
My boys on Christmas morning
James Wilson knows how much I love calendars and he made one for me with my favorite song lyrics. This is “Alligator Lizards in the Air” from America’s Ventura Highway. I love it!
We invited James’s co-worker and his family to our house on Boxing Day and we lucked out with the weather — finally not raining, so we were able to take the Shrimp Whisker out to see the Amsterdam Lights Festival. That’s Stella, their Basset Hound puppy. She’s very bad and hilarious.
James Wilson and his friends Navi and Sam. They did an escape room for his birthday (JW did two in one week!) then we all went to Sumo for lunch.
James and JW are counting down the days until New Year’s Eve. I think they can buy fireworks starting tomorrow… it’s going to be madness. I need to dig our safety glasses out of the basement and make sure I have my earplugs. Brian and I may spend the night in the bathtub.
Never did hear if the fireworks were effective.
Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!
