Water and Forest

This weekend we awoke to the news that Ruth Bader Ginsburg had passed and we felt a renewed sadness and fury about the state of things in the U.S. Our Corona numbers here just keep shooting up, and the government is making puzzling choices in terms of increased measures to stop the virus. Rutte said all bars must close at midnight, but still no measures in terms of masks or social distance requirements for students even though that’s the demographic where the disease is spreading. James is exhausted by work and JW is exhausted by school. We mostly logged off this weekend and took to the water and woods.

James and I voted for Biden/Harris this week. Our ballots went in the U.S. Consulate pouch.
It was gorgeous all weekend so we took the Shrimp Whisker out for a long ride Saturday
Brian’s probably Instagram famous by now because everyone takes his picture
James and I had dinner on Shrimpy and were joined by several birds
He is the smartest, handsomest and most talented man and I love him with all my heart even after 16 years of marriage, we spend all our time together and I never get tired of him. (He snores though)
He’s pretty lucky, too. Check out my excellent hairs.
A friend joined us for dinner
She invited a bunch of her friends, too and it got a little dicey for a while. Geese are bastards.
We rented a car and drove out to the national forest and James rode his mountain bike and I hiked through the forest for 3 hours. I finally figured out how to read a trail map.

It’s Monday so we’re back to work/school. I’m waiting to hear back on an essay pitch I sent and I wish they’d hurry the hell up and get back to me because the waiting is killing. But the world is a weird place and I’m sure the editors have a lot to contend with. Still, they should hurry the hell up.
