Thank Goodness for Shrimpy

The Shrimp Whisker is our safe haven. We’re so grateful for this boat and it’s giving us so much happiness and tranquility. I go down in the mornings with Brian and take off the cover and set up the chairs on the canal bank and hang out reading, listening to music and watching the birds and people go by. If James is able to end work before it’s too late, (not that it’s ever too late seeing that it’s light out until 11pm now) he joins me and we either just hang out or take it out for a ride. Last night we drove through Center, and the city was so incredibly beautiful it almost made me cry. De Wallen (the red light district, which is the oldest part of the city and one of the most beautiful) was essentially a ghost town, which felt so strange.

My oasis
James bought a stand up paddle board. I think we’ll have to leave Brian at home when we use it because he spends all his time trying to rescue everyone and it’s really stressful.
Tooling around on Shrimpy last night.
The colors in Amsterdam in the summer are surreal. The blue sky, white clouds, green trees and the sparkling canals are what all the great master painters were all about. Yesterday there were swirly white clouds in the sky that looked exactly like what Van Gogh painted.
My friend Heidi came to the canal on Tuesday to visit for a bit. We haven’t seen each other since before the intelligent lockdown and it was so nice to see her sweet face. We just hung out on the sunny canal bank with our chairs 1.5 meters apart.
We saw this family arrive with signs and balloons and they told us it was their mother/grandmother’s 96th birthday. They sang up to her and toasted her and one girl roller bladed up and down the street with the balloons singing up to her. All the neighbors opened their windows and said happy birthday. It was so lovely. You can see her in the window if you look closely. I hope she felt a little cheered and less lonely. It’s clear her family loves her and is trying to keep her safe.
James Wilson’s balcony garden is coming along really nicely.
Check out the lettuces!
I gave James another haircut.
James made a little table for me so I can have a proper desk for all my business affairs
Poor Brian has another ear infection. He got some meds from his friends at the vet today but no swimming for him for a while and he’s not going to be happy about that at all.

Overall we’re doing pretty well. We’re moving from stage 1 to stage 2 of the easing of the intelligent lockdown next week. This means JW goes back to school, amongst other things. More on that later…
