Happy 14th Birthday JW!

Yesterday was James Wilson’s 14th birthday. He started the day with a nice surprise — Brooke, Luna, and Kai waited up late in California to call him the morning of his birthday. It really meant a lot to him. He had a low key day at school and then we biked to the movies to see Star Wars. It’s sort of a tradition as they tend to come out for his birthday every year. This weekend he’s going to do an escape room with a couple of his friends and then we’re all going to lunch at Sumo. I love this kid so much and I’m clinging to every moment with him. He was four years old three seconds ago, so I have to hold on tight.

With all his loot. Thanks so much to Nanna, Pappa, Grammy, Grampy, Grandma and Auntie Brooke for sending him stuff in the mail and making sure his day felt special. It means a lot.
Books by the author he met at ComicCon. He also got cooking lessons in Milan (we’re going in January), and a very mysterious gift from Auntie Brooke and family. He’s on the case, solving the clue and can’t wait for part 2 which is coming for Christmas.
I ordered his cake from the same bakery we always use on our street, but it may be time for me to find a new one. The cakes are so good, but they are so damn rigid. Last year they said they would only use pink macaroons (even though they make every color) and this year they said the frosting had to be red and green because “It’s Christmas” even though I was special ordering a goddamn BIRTHDAY cake. Stubborn Dutchies.
