Now we have everything
January 15, 2019
We decided to have our stuff shipped over from storage, and it arrived on Friday. We moved here without knowing where we’d live and didn’t have a sense of how much space we’d have so we didn’t bring a lot of our furniture, and when we got our apartment we found we were really missing some of the bigger pieces like our dressers, dining chairs, and our big chests of drawers. We were paying to store it at home (storage is surprisingly expensive), so we bit the bullet and had it shipped over. I’m so glad we did!
In unpleasant news, James Wilson had a bike accident last week. He was on his way to basketball and there was a parked bike that was sticking out into the bike lane and he hit it. He has a fat lip and a bruised chest, but he’s okay. We’re glad he was wearing his helmet, which did take a big hit. I feel terrible for him and it’s very hard to see him hurt and scared. I’d much rather take the pain myself than see my kid hurting. He has basketball again tonight and it’s my instinct to get my helicopter out but I’m going to do my best to let him continue to develop his independence and grow but I hate it and I would much prefer to cover him in bubble wrap and keep him safely by my side at all times. I’ll be chanting “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming” to myself for about two hours this evening during basketball practice if you need me.
In happier news, we went on another canal cruise to see the Festival of Lights one more time before it ends. We had a great time, but we were glad we went in November with Dorothy because it was harder to see this time because the boat was enclosed for the winter. The narration was very good though and we learned even more about the different installations.
