James Wilson’s a Teenager!

James Wilson turned 13! He decided he wanted to invite a few of his school friends to an Escape Room to celebrate.

James found one with good reviews, and the owner made it really special for us. We had the entire space to ourselves, and she decorated and provided snacks and drinks.

I went to a bakery on our street to get the cake, and that was a very Dutch experience. The baker showed us the cakes that they could make, and the one we chose had pink macaroons. We asked if we could swap them out for another color (they make and sell all different flavors) but we were told it wouldn’t be possible, so we said we’d just take it without the macaroons, but when we picked it up , it had the pink macaroons. We were getting the pink macaroons and we were going to like it. It all worked out — the cake was amazing. Seriously, like the best cake we’ve ever had.

This cake was amazing! It was a yellow sponge cake with buttercream and it had fresh pineapple and white chocolate inside.

James Wilson and his friends had a great time during the game. They solved it with nine minutes to spare. The game keeper said they were all very smart kids and she seemed impressed. I was impressed by how sweet and thoughtful the kids were. They gave James Wilson hand made cards and wrote really sincere and thoughtful notes for him. I’m so glad he’s found a good group of friends.

James Wilson seems happy and relaxed and he really enjoyed his birthday. The night of his actual birthday we took him to Sushi Samba, which he loved. I’m so proud of him — he’s been so adaptable and is doing so well with our big adventure. I love you , buddy! Happy Birthday!!

He’s a teenager!
