The Not Walking and Wounded

About a week after we got here my plantar fasciitis started flaring up (walking between 15K-30K steps a day will do that I guess) and now it’s at a full-blown crisis. Unfortunately, I didn’t pack my orthopedic shoes or slippers (I haven’t had symptoms for years) and we’re having a hard time finding places to buy stuff.  I have never missed Amazon delivery more in my life. Yesterday morning I couldn’t even bear to put my foot on the ground so James spent a bunch of time researching sites for me.  He even measured my foot using a piece of dental floss and James Wilson’s ruler and ordered a few things to be delivered to his office in Utrecht.  Please, get here soon.

Then, about an hour after we were up and about, James bent over to pick the keys up off the coffee table and his back went into a major spasm!  He’s in so much pain. Last night I moved to the sofa bed in the living room to give him the firmer bed (we’re sleeping on twins Lucy-and-Ricky style in this charming short-stay apartment) and he’s working from home today in the hopes he can get the spasms to stop.

We may be checking out the Dutch Medical System sooner rather than later…  Anyone want to come visit and bring us medical supplies?

  • Moving into your new apartment should be a lot of fun. Just getting your 8 suitcases there if you can’t walk and James can’t lift should be quite an ordeal. You only have a week to heal. I hope there is rapid relief in sight.
