The Zoo
August 30, 2018
It was such a beautiful day and James Wilson and I spent it at the Amsterdam Zoo. It’s a pretty amazing place. It’s crazy how close the animals are (there was a sign outside the jaguar and leopard enclosures that said “Warning, Sharp Claws”), and they were all active and playful. The Zoo grounds are full of colorful, meticulously manicured gardens. It was very serene and picturesque. Even though the Zoo was immaculate and beautiful, it still bothered us that the enclosures were so small. Ugh, Zoos are such a moral dilemma.
These pictures are fantastic. That toucan looks like a stuffed animal. I love it. The elephant shot is so close. Giraffes are my second favorite animals. First are Flamingos. You and James look happy. The gardens are so pretty- so much to explore there too with the variety of flowers. I see sweatshirts. What is the average temp these weeks?
When we first got here they were having a record heat wave and there is no AC anywhere and I thought I was going to die, but it didn’t last, thanks god. Now it’s in the mid-60s to low 70’s and mostly sunny, though apparently that’s weird too because normally there’s a lot more rain. To me it’s perfect. I know, that toucan is so crazy — looks so fake but it’s totally real. It looks fake even in person.
Oops, realized I had forgotten to enable comments on the last few posts. I turned them on and they should hopefully be available on all future posts. I’m still figuring out how to use this thing.
